The Popular Show Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.

The traitor then paid off his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer has experience in the region and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the team access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The cleric defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Seekers and Planners groups.

Viewers can expect finding out which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
